Arabic Coffee Cups / Finjal

$9.33 USD

Coffee is an important part of the Bedouin and Arabic hospitality ritual. When guests arrive in a home, coffee is always offered. Traditionally coffee is served in a DALLAH, a long graceful metal pot with an elongated spout. The coffee is poured into a small cup called Finjal. The cup is not filed to the brim and refills are part of the ritual. Always use your right hand to both receive and return the cup to your host. If you do not wish a refill, drain your finjal and wiggle it from side to side to indicate you have had enough.

Our cups are created especially for us by a local pottery workshop, they are made from high quality fired clay and available in five beautiful and unique colours that reflect the natural surroundings of the area.

The calligraphy is inspired by the 5 stages of an old Bedouin guest welcoming ritual where every cup of coffee has a particular significance.

All our pottery is made with special food-safe paint and can be used in dishwashers and microwaves. The specially selected premium quality clay used ensures that the pottery is very solid, does not chip or break easily so that you can be assured of its durability and longevity.

Design by us and 100% handmade in Saudi Arabia.
