Musnad Paperweight

Paperweight with tablet containing Musnad script, used in the South of the Arabian peninsula and pre-dating Arabic. The text commemorates an offering to the two deities of Ma'in.

The original tablet was found in Qaryat 'el ’Faau, Western Saudi Arabia, and is now exhibited at the National Museum in Riyadh.

The outer part of the paperweight is made of aluminum. The central tablet is made of bronze and pewter. It is hand-cast in a sand mould – the traditional technique that requires a new mold to be produced for each casting.

Designed and produced by the National Museum of Riyadh and handmade in the region. Saudi Arts & Crafts is an authorised reseller of the museum's gift range.
